Christmas Blessings Menu

$25.00$100.00

At Advent and Christmas, we mark the blessing of the birth of Jesus. As we enjoy our blessings, we are called to share those same blessings with others. Below are some ways to share. Let this brief “menu” map a blessing path, given to others – perhaps as Christmas gifts for your loved ones – then print out this gift tag to let them know how you have shared blessings with those in need.

A Godly Play Story for Port Nelson’s Children’s Program

In January, 2022 Rev. Karen Eade will be offering a new program for our Sunday children’s ministry.  Godly Play is an interactive way of sharing key Bible stories with children, and to encourage children to “wonder” about their own place in the stories.  A gift of $100 for Godly Play through the Blessings Menu will help to purchase the interactive figures and other supplies needed to launch this program for our children and their families.

A Saturday of Sandwiches for Gore Park through Meals of Hope

Port Nelson’s latest outreach program – Meals of Hope – celebrated its 1-year anniversary this past October, 2021.  Our kitchen is used five days a week to prepare take-out style meals for those in need.  On Saturdays, about 200 sandwiches are made for the Gore Park Outreach and taken to help those struggling with food security in downtown Hamilton.  Your gift of $75 will sponsor the sandwiches for a Saturday.

Afghan Interpreter for a Day through Wesley Centre

Gifts through the Blessings Menu in the past have helped Port Nelson’s Refugee Sponsorship Team to resettle two Syrian families in Burlington.  Now that this work is mostly complete, the Sponsorship Team encourages us to support the work of Wesley Urban Ministries in Hamilton as they offer language interpretation services for newly settled refugees arriving from Afghanistan amid the latest conflict in that country.  Your gift of $50 this year will help support this important work.

A Food Voucher for Port Nelson’s Food Program

In the past year, about 100 vouchers were sent to people every month to people in need in our community, each worth $25 to purchase items not usually available at the Food Bank such as baby formula, milk, vitamins, Tylenol and sanitary products.  Church volunteers have also shared phone visits with many of the food voucher clients to offer care and support during the COVID pandemic.  Your gift of a food voucher through the Blessings Menu will enable this vital ministry to continue in 2022.
