Christmas Blessings Menu

$5.00$500.00

At Advent and Christmas, we mark the blessing of the birth of Jesus. As we enjoy our blessings, we are called to share those same blessings with others. Below are some ways to share.

Let this brief “menu” map a blessing path, given to others – perhaps as Christmas gifts for your loved ones – then print out this gift tag to let them know how you have shared blessings with those in need.

Description

Winter Tents for the Gore Park Community Outreach

The Gore Park Community Outreach began in February, 2020 as a way to offer help on Saturdays to people in downtown Hamilton.  Many social agencies are open Monday to Friday, leaving vulnerable people without weekend support.  Each week, about 300 people gather in Gore Park for a meal, clothing, and many other means of support.  Nine winter tents are needed to ensure this program can continue to function year-round.  Your $500 gift would purchase a winter tent.

Roasting Pans for the Port Nelson Kitchen

Meals of Hope at Port Nelson cooks between 300 and 400 take-out meals every week in the Port Nelson Kitchen.  Currently, these meals are distributed to four partners in our community:  Gore Park Community Outreach (Saturday sandwiches and hot breakfasts), Wesley Shelter Food Program (Wednesday meals for women and children in need), Bonnie Place Residence (meals twice a week for residents referred by a caseworker), and Burlington Baptist Church Circle of Friends (Wednesday lunch).  Your $100 gift would purchase a new roasting pan for this program.

Refugee Family Support

The Port Nelson Refugee Sponsorship Group is helping to resettle the Raslan family members who have arrived from Syria to join Hamza Raslan.  We recently celebrated this happy family reunion here at Port Nelson.  However, the family faces significant financial challenges as the new arrivals must learn English before they can provide any substantial assistance to Hamza.  Your Christmas Blessings Menu gift of $50 will help support the family.

Tim Hortons Gift Cards for Clients at Gore Park

Since the spring of 2021, Port Nelson’s Meals of Hope program has been providing sandwiches for the Gore Park Community Outreach in downtown Hamilton on Saturdays.  Mid-week, many of the clients appreciate being able to have a warm coffee and snack, particularly in the winter months.  Your gift of $5 Tim Hortons gift cards will help someone in need enjoy a hot drink on a cold day.
