Weddings

Port Nelson United Church is a picturesque site for weddings and vow renewals. We are situated in the heart of Roseland – a tree-lined, historic neighbourhood in south Burlington. Our sanctuary holds up to 480 guests, facilitating any size of celebration.
If you are holding a reception after your ceremony, our Roseland Room offers a breathtaking celebration space for your special day. We can accommodate large groups for meals thanks to our large commercial kitchen.
Port Nelson has an inclusive marriage policy and, as such, hosts weddings for couples of all sexual orientations and gender identities. While weddings held in our sanctuary need to include some aspect of the Christian faith, other spaces are available for a variety of ceremonies.
We invite you to experience the beauty of our community of faith who will support you in this new time in your lives.
For more information, please contact the church office at office@portnelson.ca.

Marriage Licence
Couples are expected to secure a licence from city hall or any municipal office. Please bring this to your final meeting with the minister or leave it with the church office at least two weeks before the wedding day.
Publication of Banns
This can be requested instead of a marriage licence for those couples who worship regularly at Port Nelson. Please discuss this possibility with the minister.
Music
Port Nelson’s Director of Music will meet with couples at least one month in advance of the ceremony date to discuss music options. The church’s pianist/organist normally performs at the ceremony. They are also happy to assist in finding a singer or additional instrumentalists, as requested.
Bulletins
The church office can prepare a wedding bulletin that lists your wedding party and order of service. Couples are responsible for supplying the bulletin covers. Please note this service costs $25.
Decorations & Flowers
Flowers may be delivered to the church the day of the ceremony or reception at a time arranged through the church office. It may be possible for decorations to be placed at rehearsal. Any seasonal decorations (e.g., Christmas, Thanksgiving) will remain in place. Please note that the use of confetti or rice is not permitted.
Photography & Videography
In order to minimize distractions for the couple and the wedding party, guests and designated photographers/videographers may take pictures and videos during the ceremony but must be discreet. All photographers/videographers should check with the minister or office prior to the ceremony.
Wedding Receptions
Port Nelson’s Roseland Room is a perfect setting for wedding receptions. This beautiful, accessible room has a large capacity with plenty of space for banquet-style seating. A state-of-the art kitchen is situated adjacent to the Roseland Room, making it ideal for catering.
