Considering Matthew Shepard

Five local Halton churches, including Port Nelson, are cooperating to host Considering Matthew Shepard on Friday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Port Nelson Church. We look forward to welcoming the Elora Singers and a small instrumental ensemble for this performance.
On October 6, 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay student at the University of Wyoming, was beaten, tortured, and left to die because of his sexual orientation.
This moving event will contribute to our ongoing awareness around issues and concerns facing LGBTQ+ youth. It will provide an opportunity for healing and reconciliation between and among marginalized groups and the wider community. At a time when hate crimes are on the rise in Halton Region, this is important work. More details to follow!
Dinner is free. See you there!
