Volunteering is one of many ways people connect and contribute at Port Nelson United Church. The opportunities below highlight the current needs across our ministries and initiatives. If something interests you, please reach out to the point of contact.
Gardeners Needed – The Gardens of Port Nelson
The job is to weed the beds, edge the beds and deadhead spent blooms.
Time commitment is totally flexible: if you could provide 2 hours once, great. If you could provide 2 hours once a week for a few weeks, great! If you just want to come when the spirit moves you, equally great. Tools are in the outdoor shed so you will need to come during office hours so someone can let you in. Or bring your own tools and brown bag.
If interested, you will be toured around the gardens highlighting some needs.
We try to coordinate volunteers over the summer so we have at least one person per week having a look after the gardens.

It takes many hands to keep the gardens at Port Nelson looking so beautiful. While you are gardening please pick some fresh herbs for your dinner.
Meals of Hope – Dishwashing Help
Join our Saturday kitchen crew and lend a hand with dishes. It is a vital behind-the-scenes role that keeps our kitchen running smoothly.
The time commitment would be Saturdays 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Meals of Hope – Sorting and Storing
Sort through donations and store them in appropriate locations to keep our inventory organized and accessible.
The time commitment would be Fridays 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Assist with receiving donations and helping with sorting and storing when large deliveries arrive. Usually once a month.
